The
entertainment and media industries had grown a lot in the past few decades with
the advancement of technology, this opened doors to new career options.
Besides now
being the internet era, movies and television had become part of our daily live
as well. It’s normal to see the advertising of a new movie – or TV series -
that will premiere in a few days and everyone talking about it, all of this due
to our necessity of entertainment. We like watching all this, the finished
project, but since we are talking about careers it would be interesting to see
how all the production works.
As said
before you can have plenty of career options, as well as college majors – like
visual arts, dramatical arts, design or even literature - because you don’t
have to work exclusively with filmmaking to become one.
The
production of a movie depends on hundredths of hard-working people, you can see
some of them listed below:
·
Director:
It’s the person who leads the whole production making sure the footage, the
acting, the scenery, the production and everything actually is working right.
·
Producer:
They are often the second in command at the movie production, they – along with
the director – make sure everything is in order and also are responsible for
extra things as leading the cast and the scripts management.
·
The
cast: Actors and actresses that work to bring to life the
characters.
·
Writers
crew: The group that is responsible for the writing and
management of the scripts. It’s a hard work with dozens of ours researching to
create one.
·
Casting
director: It’s the lead person in the process that is watching
auditions and casting the actors.
·
Cameras:
Cameraman’s as they are called are the people responsible for the camera’s shoot
recordings during filming. They have to be sure of the position, movement and
the lighting, among other things.
·
Concept
Artists: They create the whole “concept art” of the movies
based on scripts and descriptions.
·
Costumers/
figurine: Are the people responsible for designing and creating
the clothing the characters are going to wear.
·
Make-up
artists/ Creature designers: There are lots of specialization you
can have in the make-up area: the beauty make-up (the normal one) and the
creatures make-up (creation of monsters and others) are the most known.
·
Photography
crew: Are responsible for the photo shoots after and during
the movie production. Often involved with the filming too.
·
Scenery
artists: Are the designers and artists who create the scenery
where the film will shoot.
·
Editors:
Are the post-production crew responsible for cutting scenes, adding the
soundtrack, special effects and a lot of other technical work.
·
Special
effects crew: the people who design and create special effects
software and add them to the final project.
·
Composer:
Responsible for the composing of the movie soundtrack.
·
Animators:
If the movie is an animation, the animators are
responsible creating the whole film motion. The three more common kinds of
animation are the traditional one, stop-motion and CGI.
