Berlin Wall Goes Down

A miss understood announcement by the party boss of East Germany, Günter Schabowski makes the wall go down.

In the end of a press conference in with Günter Schabowski, he received a card with the new politics of the Berlin Wall. He did’t was part of team that create the news policies and didn't received the date that these policies get effect. And probably, he didn't expect that the night of 1989 November 9th would mark the story of Berlin.

Doing his job, he quickly decide to announce the new rules for travel between the two sides. The main fact was that one of those rules tell that anyone could travel between the bordes. During the months before these announcement, the Hungary and Austria border was open, many East Germany citizens traveled to the East side and other countries. Making more pressure for the opening of wall that use to separate the city.
After Günter annouce in the conference that everyone could travel between the wall, without given to the guards the information of how this would happen. A famous Germany broadcaster “ARD” anchorman Hans Joachim announced “This is a historic day. East Germany has announced that, starting immediately, its borders are open to everyone. The GDR is opening its borders ... the gates in the Berlin Wall stand open.”. So, in a couple hours thousand of western people who earned  the news came to the wall and required the opening of the gates. If so many people, the local guards and encouraged didn’t give the order to fire. No one would  take the risk and guilty of kill thousand of western people. The wall got breached, the gates got opened and during all night celebration happened.
For those who don't know the Berlin Wall, it was a barrier that divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989, constructed by the German Democratic Republic starting on 13 August 1961.

Here's a video explaining how it happened
