French Revolution

The French Revolution

The french revolution was an influential conjunction of social and political changes that occurred between 1789 and 1799. An actual "revolutionary" event, it was inspired by liberal thoughts that would trigger the decline of absolutist monarchies and it's replacement with republics and democracies (pic.1).

Although the real causes behind the start of the Revolution are still debated among historians, it had an triggering event known as the "Assault in the Bastille" when farmers and french citizens marched upon the symbol of the absolutist power in France, the Bastille (pic.2).

Following the Revolutionary Wars after the unsuccessful attempt of former King Louis XVI to reclaim it's throne back, the Reign of Terror was established where thousands of people contrary to the reforms (including King Louis) were executed through the use of the guillotine (pic.3).

The French Revolution's outcome can be resumed in the creation and exploration of more "people's" forms of government, in it's influential role in the creation of modern constitutions and in the future events that would take place in the french territory following the ascension of a young general of the revolutionary army, Napoleon Bonaparte (pic.4).
