Moon Landing

On May 25, 1961, President Kennedy expressed a concern that the USA was falling behind the Soviet Union in technology and prestige, during a speech to Congress - he challenged the nation to put a man on the moon before the end of the decade.
On July 16, 1969, the Apollo 11 launched from the Kennedy Space Center with a unique destination: the moon.

On July 20, 1969, Commander Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon. As Neil Armstrong climbed down the ladder to the surface of the moon, a camera in the Lunar Module was capable of broadcasting on live TV to a world-wide audience , as he put his left foot down he declared: That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.

After filming the historic moment with a portable camera, the astronauts received a message from President Nixon (who was elected in 1963). "This certainly has to be the most historic telephone call ever made" were the words of the US President, directly from the White House

The Apollo 11 crew: Neil Armstrong - Commander; Michael Collins - command module pilot; Edwin E. Aldrin Jr - lunar module pilot.

On the internet it is possible to find videos of the moon landing, like this one:
