THE PROJECT

PROJETO DE LÍNGUA INGLESA - 3º ANO, 1º TRI

We started this year talking about news around the world. Now we are going further, to share our world knowledge and broaden our horizons!

Try to imagine a newspaper with the TOP 10 events that happened in History! What would be there?

Why do we learn about them?

1.   BRAINSTORM
·      What are some of the important world news/ facts/events of all times?
·      Which ones (from different areas) should we know more about, when studying for an exam, such as ENEM and University entrance examinations?
·      Have you watched movies, read books and magazines, listened to songs that talk about any of these facts?
·      Do you think it is interesting to learn about that through art? Why?

2.   RESEARCH
·      Get in groups of 3.
·      Check some big events mentioned in different exams.
·      Which ones have called your attention?
·      Are they relevant for students who are getting prepared for these exams?
·      Read about it in newspapers and magazines from now and then. Check polemic and curious details from different sources.
·      Can you find good pictures of it?
·      Where/how can we find additional information about it? The group must consider visual arts, movies, songs, books.

3.   HANDS ON
·      Do some readings and exercises in our book (unit8).
·      Write a NEWS STORY, telling in a contemporary style, the events you researched about.
·      Consider the short definition of NEWS STORY below:
“A news story is a factual, prose story for print or broadcast media about a person, place or event answering these five questions: who, what, when, where, why and how. A news story is written in the inverted-pyramid style, giving the most important information first and additional details later.http://www.ask.com/art-literature/definition-news-story-3cb9ecebdb3be3c7#full-answer
·      Create a title
·      Add good pictures of this event.
·      Include the selected scenes/trailers of movies and documentaries, quotations, lyrics, photos of art works.
·      Mention the references

4.   FINAL CUT
·      Publish your news story on the blog: newstoriesofalltimes.blogspot.com
·      Include all the extra information (pictures, movie trailers, links and references)
·         Present the blog to us on April, 28th

·         Text, additional info and oral presentation (2,0 points)
